//I began the brief sound walk from the 1st floor of the First United Building, retracing the longer path to the garden area and noticing the everyday scenes of curious visitors or employees sharing laughing as they head to their lunch breaks.//
an act of observation on the interplay of hearing and seeing.
how do you visualize the conciousness of in-between spaces?
//These pocket spaces are in-between spaces; spaces that don't have a fixed purpose and are often transitory. It draws you to observe everything surrounding it, as though time naturally becomes passive.//
set in a space I know intimately, where I can deeply observe its nuances.
by treating raw documentation as data points to inform generative sound and visuals that mimic the observed patterns.
//Sketches on how to seamlessly capture the generative counterparts of found objects that I observe to be a common within the space.//
found object 01: Absolute Water //Observation 01.1:// There were a lot of water gallons all huddled up in a corner; one was either empty or filled with stale water. It was the only synthetic object among all the plants surrounding it.
//Observation 01.2:// The sequence generated from the water recordings had silent pauses scattered between randomized trickling notes, kind of like droplets gathering in the corner.
//Observation 02.1:// There were only two lucky bamboos in the space; both were quite small. I remember having the same one with the red clay planter, how my mom often associated it with good luck and always kept one indoors.

//Observation 02.2:// The contact mic recordings of both the leaves and the clay pot were both rough and harsh. The note sequence generated was continuously unpredictable and sporadic.
//A photographic collage of images taken at different hours of the day of recording the installation; layered soundscapes and documentations of the visual installation as though mimicking a collection of transient moments captured within the space.//
